Beatniks Annual Spring Recital

Happy Birthday, Beatniks! This year’s recital is titled Sweet 16 and features songs about birthday parties and growing up as we celebrate 16 years of Beatniks Dance! We have a special party planned for after each show for your family to enjoy and celebrate with us. We will be holding two recitals this year to showcase our dancers and tumblers.

Tickets are $12 if purchased by May 17th. Tickets are $18 if purchased after May 28th.

Recital Costumes

Costumes are on their way home- hooray! Please be sure you have your dancer try them on at home (with clean hands and in a safe, dry place) to be sure that they fit correctly. We order costumes that are made of material that has a lot of give to it, so they will stretch and grow if your dancer does too.

It is nearly impossible to replace a costume once they have been ordered, so please take every precaution at home. Don’t allow your dancer to play or try on their costume excessively and NEVER let them eat or play with a pet in them. Please be sure you read the directions on your garment bag for proper storage and recital preparation.

Keep in mind that you may need to do small alternations, such as take in the straps or pin up a skirt. Please ask for help or direction if you are unsure. We will send a detailed list regarding accessories for each class when we get closer to the show.

Day of Recital Notes

11am Show, performers arrive at 1040am

5pm Show, performers arrive at 440pm

All performers will remain in the dressing rooms and will be supervised for the entire performance. Dancers in only the first half of the show may be picked up at intermission to watch the second half in the audience with you. Dancers in the second half may watch the first half in the audience with you and should go to the dressing room at intermission. All the students will be called backstage a few numbers before the end, for the curtain call. This is a very exciting final bow that we want all our dancers to experience and be a part of! No one will be allowed to leave other than at intermission- this is for the safety of your children and we EXPECT our families to respect and abide by our policies.

Theatre Rules & Ettiquette

* There is no food or drink allowed in the auditorium, except for water. Please do not send your performer with messy snacks or pop and do not allow them to eat messy foods in their costumes before, during, or after the show. If needed, pack clean snacks likes crackers, gummies, ect. Dancers who are in multiple numbers need to bring water with them for the shows!

* Please help us teach proper theatre etiquette:

- Do not enter or exit during a performance, wait until a dance has finished.

- Do not sit or lean into the aisle during a performance.

- Do not allow young children to run around in the aisles during the show.

- Silence your phones and do not use them during the show.

- Show appreciation for each dance with applause and praise.

- If needed, please remove crying babies so they do not distract from the hard work of our performers.

- Stay for the entire show. Every performer deserves a full audience!

Picture and Videos! We welcome you to take all the pictures and videos you want, FROM A SEAT! You MAY NOT move around the auditorium and please do not hold anything up above your face, as it blocks the view behind you. If you are not being respectful of others around you, you will be asked to leave the theatre. Keep in mind that your recital fee includes access to all of our shows which are professionally filmed and edited for our families. We suggest you sit back and enjoy the moment!

Souvenirs

* We will have a booth with recital souvenirs for sale that make great gifts for your performer! Let grandparents and other friends know- they will love to surprise your dancer with a gift after the show! We accept cash and credit card.

* The Beatniks Parent Organization will have a booth with flowers and balloons for sale as well! Profits of these sales go towards our dance team fees for next season.
