Katie

Katie Whorton opened Beatniks Dance and Tumble in the summer of 2008, alongside her husband, Jeremy.  Katie starting dancing at the age of 5, and has over 17 years of experience in dance education, with both children and adults.  She began her training at The Dance Arts Center under the direction of Lynn Fankhauser, where she performed with Dance Midwest Touring Company for 5 years. This production company toured in the United States as well as Europe during this time. Katie then became very involved in theatre and participated in numerous shows at her local high school and then through college at Baker, University of Kansas, and Missouri Western State University. Katie obtained an Education Degree in Theatre and Dance and has worked with several high school, college, and community theatre programs throughout the Kansas City area. Katie currently serves as the Studio Company Director and Head Competition Team Coach for Beatniks Dance and Tumble. Her competitive team has received national recognition for technique, performance quality, and creative concepts throughout the Midwest, and Katie has received numerous choreography and studio awards. Ms Katie prides herself in our friendly, professional instructors who share her visions and passion for teaching.

Betsy

Betsy Rieken joined the BDT teaching staff in 2013, alongside her sister, Katie.  Ms Betsy danced at the Dance Arts Center in St. Joseph, and studied under Lynn Fankhauser during her time there.  She works as a nurse part time after earning her BSN from Missouri Western State University in 2009. She also brings over 12 years of childhood education to our team.  Ms Betsy serves as the Assistant Director at Beatniks, teaches our mid level dance classes, and serves as an Assistant Coach on our Competition Team. She feels beyond blessed to be a part of the Beatniks family!

Danielle

Danielle Perry has been teaching for Beatniks Dance and Tumble sense 2012. She was a Varsity Cheerleader at North Kansas City High School and team captain for 2 years.She went on to become a member of the Northwest Dance Company, Raven Dance Team and taught at the Raven School of Dance at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. Ms Danielle has been taking dance and tumble classes sense she was 2 years old. She is Beatnik’s head tumble instructor, and teaches hip hop, jazz pom, and combo classes. She is so thankful to be able to share her passion for dance and tumble here at Beatniks!

 

Annalise

Annalise Peacock has been dancing for 13 years, 4 of them competitively.  Ms Anna officially joined BDT teaching staff in 2015, after serving as a choreography intern, team captain, and assistant teacher for many years.  She is a Platte County High School Graduate and attends Maple Woods Community College.  Ms Anna teaches a wide range of dance classes, and serves as an Assistant Coach for Beatniks Dance Competition Team.

Heather

Heather Boyle joined BDT teaching staff in 2015,  after serving as an assistant teacher for 5 years. She graduated from Platte County High School and currently attends Maple Woods Community College.  Ms Heather started dancing when she was 3 years old, and danced competitively for 4 years.  Ms Heather enjoyed a very successful competitive dance career during her time on our Competition Team. She serves as an assistant teacher and choreographer as well as an Assistant Coach for Beatniks Dance Competition Team.

Sarah

Sarah Reiser graduated from high school in 2017, and as been serving as an assistant teacher since 2015.  Ms Sarah has began dancing at 3 year old, and participated in theatre, hand bells, and choir through her middle and high school career.  She has been dancing at Beatniks for 6 years, and danced with Competition Team from 2014-2017.  Ms Sarah won numerous regional and national awards for her competitive solos and group dances, and continues to train in tap, ballet, jazz, and modern.  Ms Sarah loves the opportunity to share her passion with the tiny dancers at Beatniks!

Linda

Linda Burgess serves as the office manager for both Beatniks Dance and Lone Wolf Martial Arts. Ms Linda is a retired school teacher, and brings 24 years of educational experience to our studio. Linda taught pre-school for 5 years, and taught in the public schools for 17 years, one year in 3rd grade, the remaining years in Kindergarten. Ms Linda’s hobby and passion is music. She is a Christian singer and songwriter, has recorded one CD of original contemporary songs, and is currently recording a Christmas CD of original songs. Ms Linda shares her music ministry with churches and also sings and plays keyboard in a newly formed band. She really enjoys working at the studio with her daughters, Ms Katie and Ms Betsy!
