The Beatniks Dance Competition Team (BDCT) is a program designed for students in third grade or older with a strong interest in dance and performing competitively. BDCT is for dancers who excel in recreational classes and have the desire and maturity to take on a higher level of training.

BDCT’s motto is derived from one of Beatniks Dance and Tumble Studio’s Core Objectives: Promote healthy bodies, healthy minds, and healthy spirits.

Competition is a great way for dancers to gain confidence, poise, and self-respect. Dancers who compete learn cooperation and self-assessment through the process of trial and error in rehearsals and in performances.

BDCT requires a one year commitment from June Summer Intensives through Spring Recital. BDCT dancers have a set of required technique classes that meet during the week from September-May, and Summer Intensives from June-August. They also have additional Competition Rehearsals that meet (or could meet) during the week and on weekends.

Dancers and their families devote a significant amount of time to their team with classes, rehearsals, performances, fundraising, traveling, and other fun team events! Participation in BDCT is a significant addition to any family’s’ time and budget, and this should be considered thoroughly before auditioning for placement on the team.
