Back to School… Back to Dance

Fall has always been my favorite season of the year.  I think it’s the combination of the cool air, the leaves falling, Halloween, and hoodies.

Each fall, we kick off a new season of classes and the anticipation is often more than I can handle.  My staff and I have spent the summer planning the upcoming year; from class curriculums, competition events,  and parades to class parties, choreography, and our annual end of the year recital!  We just have so much to look forward to!

Every fall, I think back to when I first opened the studio 7 years ago.  Jeremy and I had been married for exactly 3 months and could not have been more excited to bring dance education to a community that we had quickly come to call home.  Now, as we are headed into our 8th season, I realize that my calling in life is not just to teach dance, but to teach kids. I know now that my staff and I have been challenged to teach life lessons that go far beyond the mirrors, mats, and barres.   Above everything else, we want our students to know they are special, that they are unique, and that they are loved.  We want them to learn self confidence and self worth that is needed beyond measure in todays’ world.

BDT has a mission statement that my staff and I hold ourselves accountable to:  promote healthy bodies, healthy minds, and healthy spirits.  It is our goal this fall, as it is every year, to create a safe and positive learning environment for all of our students, from toddlers to teenagers.

I am looking forward to another wonderful season of creating memories with our amazing students and families. Happy Fall!
